Why we built ID-Shield

The problem

Every hotel check-in, every apartment application, every car rental — they all ask for a copy of your ID. You hand it over, and that's it. You have no idea where it ends up, who sees it, or whether it gets deleted.

A simple idea

What if every copy you share was stamped with exactly who it was for and why? If that copy ever shows up somewhere it shouldn't, you'd know immediately which handoff went wrong. And the visible watermark alone deters most misuse — nobody wants to use a document that clearly says "For Hilton Hotel, March 2026."

Privacy by design

ID-Shield stores everything on your device. No accounts, no servers, no tracking. iCloud sync is optional and entirely in your control. We built the app we wanted to use ourselves — and we think you'll want it too.
